Which upgrades to Synology NAS matter?

How to go about upgrading the NAS # I have been using Synology 1821+ as my NAS and have been pretty happy with it. The first upgrade I did in my homelab was to set up 10 gig networking. My primary need to do so (other the insatiable desire to always upgrade) was to speed up the transfer for my photos and videos that I manage on this NAS.
